Y&J Music is a business run by Jonathan May and brother-in-law Yannick Lambrecht. Both of them are wildly passionate about piano, music education, and helping other people accomplish their dreams. Learn to Play with Jonny May was conceived in 2010, with the vision of creating high-quality piano lessons that would stand out from the rest on the web in terms of content and quality. They feel they have succeeded in this ambition.

While Jonny does the actual piano playing and teaching, Yannick helps with all the background operations of the business; from designing new courses, to post-production work on the videos, and running the website. Y&J Music is committed to ongoing development of video courses and other instructional materials for people who want to learn to play piano. The real mission is to inspire others to reach their goals by sharing the gift of music.

Aside from working with Y&J Music, Yannick sings professionally in the Southern California area, and is currently a voice and piano instructor at the Young Americans College of Performing Arts. When he's not working on new projects, he enjoys the outdoors, reading, and spending time with his wonderful wife.

Other talented members of the team include videographer Cody Morgan, graphic designer Kyle Pidot, and web designer Reggie Estrella. Their services are highly recommended. Contact them for work inquiries at contact@pianowithjonny.com.

We are genuinely impressed by this amazingly talented young artist. He displays the musical skills, presence, and poise of an artist decades beyond his years. Rarely have we heard an artist navigate the keys with more obvious fluency and utter know-how.

Also impressive is Jonny's wide range of styles, never missing a note while entertaining varying audiences with varying tastes. It's a rare gift to find such a colorful and charismatic character with the raw musical skill to fully compliment his engaging presence and stage personality.  Jonny delivers in a big way.....way entertaining! We really love his "Santa Gone Wild" performances.....hopefully we'll see more of Santa! (check out the "Santa Gone Wild" videos below).

EXTRA BONUS: Prodigious talent obviously runs in Jonny's family. Check out Jonny's brother-in-law Yannick in the video, "All of Me," below. Yannick displays syrupy smooth vocals...fantastic voice....and Jonny's accompaniment is spot on! We hope to see much more from Jonny & Yannick!

Jonathan May is a pianist from Southern California who specializes in many exciting styles of piano. As early as age four, Jonny was playing melodies on the piano that he heard on the radio. Jonny comes from a large family of musicians. His grandfather, Walter May, was a prolific composer and music educator, and his father was a professional jazz bassist and entertainment attorney.

As a boy, Jonny remembers sitting for hours in the lounge chairs at hotel restaurants, listening to his father play jazz bass with other professional musicians. Jonny's seven siblings also studied musical instruments, so he spent much of his childhood listening to a wide variety of music, from Bach and Beethoven to Miles Davis and Bill Evans.

Jonny began his formal musical education at age four, studying classical piano with Elizabeth Beck and competing in many local music festivals. At age 13, he met Disneyland pianist Johnny Hodges, and began studying specialized piano styles such as ragtime, boogie-woogie, and honkey-tonk piano. At age 14, he also began studying jazz piano with Professor Larry Flahive, and by age 15, he was the pianist for the University of California Riverside Jazz Big Band and he started playing piano professionally at local restaurants.

It was around this time that Jonny decided that he wanted to pursue a career in music, as he had developed a love and passion for writing music and performing his arrangements. At age 18, Jonny became the youngest pianist ever at Disneyland's Refreshment Corner Cafe, where he continues to entertain thousands of guests every week with his flashy arrangements of American classics and Disney favorites.

Jonny is the keyboardist and bandleader for the Mad T Party Band, an exciting new show at Disneyland's California Adventure, where he plays Top 40's, Rock and Roll, and Dance Music with a five piece band. Jonny May also performs stride and swing piano at Universal Studios, Hollywood in his one-man show as the charming piano extraordinaire , "Sebastian Smith."

Jonny has recorded piano with Barrelhouse Boys, a rhythm and blues band from Southern California, and his piano performances can also be heard on his original album, "Cousins: The Songs of Beck & May," available now on iTunes for digital download. On piano, Jonny has accompanied Grammy Award Winner Lari White, and Tony Award Winner Lin Manuel Miranda.

Jonny May has also played jazz piano for numerous restaurants, weddings, and parties, and he loves delighting his listeners with unique arrangements of popular and classic songs. If you catch one of Jonny May's performances, you can certainly expect to hear something original....be it a ragtime rendition of Coldplay's "Clocks," "A Whole New World," from Aladdin set to a samba groove, or a Super Mario Brothers Boogie Woogie!

As a composer, Jonny has written the music for two original musicals, and performed his compositions in an exclusive one night concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. in 2010. Jonny has also performed his compositions at the Pick-Staiger Concert Hall (Evanston, Illinois), The Duplex (New York City), and The Gardenia (Los Angeles). His original musical, "Peter Pan: A New Musical," was selected to be in the 2012 Dreamworks ASCAP Workshop, where his music was critiqued by a panel of industry writers, including Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell). Jonny is currently working on two new musicals with his songwriting partner, Jordan Beck, entitled, "We are Witnesses" and "Snow/White Incorporated."

In his spare time, Jonny loves to go snowboarding, write music, and work out at the gym. He is happily married to his lovely wife and biggest fan, Crystal May.

In 2013, Jonny co-launched the website Piano With Jonny where courses of his piano arrangements are featured. Find more information on his "Official Website" link below.
